 It’s bin a year o’ plenty
Logs are piled ‘igh, they almost touch the sky
The brick lined ‘ole, filled wi’ summer coal
Cow ‘ouse is crammed wi’ potatoes
‘idden from frosts and tornadoes.
It’s bin a year o’ plenty

In their chamber smiley apples
wizened an’ wrinkled in light that dapples
Rosy, yellow youngsters, the  onlookers,
Sit snuggly agen bitter cookers
It’s bin a year o’ plenty

In the kitchen, sides o’ bacon ‘ang
and great ‘ams press gang
onions tied in knots who rage
over cheeses wi’ ribbons of sage
It’s been a year of plenty

Pots o’ jam. currant red and black,
Guzgog and razbree tucked in the back
Victoria plum and purple damson spread
wi’ butter on ‘omemade bread.
It’s bin a year o’ plenty

Plum puddins wi’ none to spare
Pickles and spices for meats to wear
Elderberry, cowslip an’ ‘ot ginger wine
Mince pies piled ‘igh, that’s divine
It’s bin a year o’ plenty

Finally the goose, the wost o’ sinners
Now wi’out feathers, crop and in’ards
Waitin’ for the day of stuffin’
This day that goose is cookin’
It’s been a year of plenty.
